I know this blog tends to get a bit LSU-sports-heavy now and then, and I apologize to my non-sports-loving friends for that reason even though there must really be something wrong with you, because I love you all the same.
But this is something that’s going on here right now that I felt I had to share with you all — sports lovers and weirdos non-sports lovers alike. Because this is an indication of what my guys are made of. And if you weren’t really interested in the baseball College World Series before, maybe this will give you a reason to cheer us on.
Please take the time to read (and watch, if you care to click on the video on the WAFB site) this feel-good story. Like I said, it’s not so much about baseball as it is about the good in people.
Both stories are short, and the first one has a couple of videos to the right of it.

Though shockingly, the NCAA are assholes
June 14, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Haha . . well there’s both something wrong with me and I’m a weirdo when it comes to American Football but maybe the fact that I like baseball will redeem me in your eyes? Just a tad? Nice story! They seem like a big hearted bunch!

What a great story for Father’s Day! Geaux Tigers!
(9 hours til GO time!)

Baino, consider yourself redeemed. I appreciate the heck out of you coming to visit even when I’m on an LSU tear.
Sparky! Dammit! I told you this was a feel-gooder! You gonna plug your team? Man, just like a damn liberal! 🙂 (Love ya, you know that!!!)
Erica — I AM DYING HERE. DYING.

There’s lots wrong with me; let’s not even start a list, shall we? But two of those things are that I can’t bring myself to care about sports the way you – and my husband – want me to, and that I can’t watch videos online because they’re not captioned.
At least I can knit, and therefore have some semblance of usefulness in the world.

I’m just happy to read a story where young people are doing something, good and positive as opposed to something awful and violent.
GO LSU!!!!!!!!!

Oh, yes, you CAN definitely knit, Kate! 🙂 And I think you are pretty darn useful!
JC, that’s why I wanted to share the story — it’s so different from what we usually see in the news. I hope it’ll inspire my kids to act in a positive manner when given a choice.

Very touching, Wordnerd, LSU is just class.
June 15, 2008 at 6:01 pm
LSU IS class – anyone who has ever seen them play or been in the state of Louisiana knows that, whether they choose to admit it or not. I didn’t go there for college but plenty of those I grew up with did. My oldest and bestest girlfriend to this day did. She’ll go toe to toe with you on bragging about those Tigers!
June 16, 2008 at 1:44 am
I will always brag about my Tigers! Even after the game tonight. I love LSU and I always will.

I’m with you, shoeaddict. They can do no wrong. It’s been a great year.
June 16, 2008 at 12:07 pm
Thanks for making me cry first thing in the morning, dude.
June 16, 2008 at 1:48 pm
If Tracy cried, I’m not watching. And you can’t make me.
June 16, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Tiff! Get yourself over here and read this! You NEED this story! It’s the least you can do after your NC boys hammered us last night!
June 16, 2008 at 9:03 pm
MMkay. I read them.
Nobody beats a group of country gentlemen for pure outright big heartedness. Well done, LSU.
June 17, 2008 at 12:38 am
Good on them. I only wish they’d won.
/Well, NOW I do.
//Before I read this, I was all like, ‘In your FACE, Wordnerd!’
///hanging head in pre-emptive shame
