Onward. One of you, this very day, will become my 10,000th visitor. This means nothing to those of you whose stats far exceed my meager numbers. But it ROCKS for me. Because I truly never thought I’d hang in this long. Or that people would hang in there with me. And as I approach my one-year blogoversary, I’m happy to say that it’s been a helluva ride. I’ve met so many interesting people from all over the world. I’ve met people that I have more in common with than I could ever have expected. I’ve met people that I now call friends. I’ve met people that have given me a whole new way to view myself and my world. And I mean that. So I thank each of you for being part of this little exercise and staying with me.
Vacation was a blast — only went about 80 miles away, to one of my favorite cities, New Orleans. And I was glad to see that they are picking up the pieces little by little. It will be a long haul for them, though, and I don’t know if it will ever be the same. But we had a wonderful time, eating and drinking way too much, and taking it all in. I’ll fill you in over the next few days, but for now, I gotta work. Crappy thing about vacation is that you have to come back. But it’s nice knowing I have you guys to come back to.

I can’t tell you how much I value our friendship, built right here on the little old internets. Congrats on your 10,000 and I’m going to leave work now to spend the rest of the day drinking to your next 100,000.

They make snowglobes of New Orleans? I suspect the stuff floating around isn’t snow but perhaps some Jambalaya? A Jambalaya globe would be cool!
Welcome back.

Did you take pictures? If so, where are they?
I really want to go there one day. It’s on my list of things to do. I am, however, crossing ‘visit cemetaries’off my list for obvious reasons.

Hey welcome back! And Happy Blogoversary too. I’m glad I stumbled across your place you have here, I think of you often in the ‘real world’…..when I have non-practical shoes I must hobble into walmart with, and whenever funnel cakes and carnival food are in my midst! Congrats! Thanks for my virtual gift….a New Orleans Christmas ornament!
July 18, 2006 at 9:24 pm
Glad you had a good vacation. It is tough getting into the swing of things. At least that’s what I’ve been told, I haven’t been on a vacation for 4 years.

I’m so glad to hear that New Orleans is coming back. I love that city. I used to live in Bay St. Louis, MS for 4 years once.

It’s always been more about quality than quantity for me. When I write – for my blog, in a column, wherever – I always think about The One (caps deliberate) reader who is destined to read my stuff. If I get through to that one person, I’m happy. Everything else is gravy.
I’m one reader who’s glad I found your blog. Welcome back from what sounds like a wonderful vacation. Here’s to many more “The Ones” in your blog future.
